President's Message

WELCOME TO THE BOOTS AND SADDLES NEW MEXICO FOUNDATION

New Mexico has a rich military heritage that is embodied in surviving military posts that date from the Indian Wars of the 19th Century. Seven of these Forts (Union, Sumner, Craig, Stanton, Selden, Bayard, Cummings) still exist either as ruins or intact structures and are being preserved and restored by State and Federal Governments and private entities. The purpose is to create and support educational opportunities for the public to learn of the military history of New Mexico including the centuries of Indian Wars waged by the Spanish, Mexican and Americans and the Civil War.
The Boots and Saddles New Mexico Foundation is a private, non-profit group formed to support the private, State and Federal efforts and to develop and implement common programs among all the Forts. We welcome you to join us in our work, by joining the Foundation -- membership can be accessed by clicking here.
I also encourage you to become a member of at least one of the Fort's friends group -- these Friends Group's websites can be accessed by clicking the links listed to your left on this webpage.
